Today, on Sunday, August 25th, 2019 we are officially 1 Year Away from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The Organizing Committee scheduled a series of events to mark the 1 year milestone until the Opening Ceremonies of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. As part of the ceremony schedule includes the unveiling of the Paralympic Medals. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Medals are a result of true innovation and sustainability genius as they are fully recycled from the old unused electronic devices that the Japanese citizens have donated for this purpose. Earlier in July, we have witnessed the beauty of the design of the Olympic Medals. Paralympic Medals today also did not disappoint.

For the first time, the medals have braille design indentations so athletes with vision loss can identify their medals by touch- 1 indentation for gold, 2 for silver and 3 for bronze. Braille letters also spell out Tokyo 2020 on each medal's front face.
