The Tokyo 2020 Games announced today that all ceremony podiums to be used during the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be made out of recycled plastic.

And the suppliers of this? No other than the citizens of Japan!

The Organizing committee called on Japanese people to take responsibility by their household plastic waste and /or plastic collected from oceans to throw them in bins located in major outlets specifically for this brilliant project. As the official partner company of Tokyo 2020, Procter & Gamble will turn these plastic waste into podiums. 45 tons of plastic are expected to be collected.

Hats off to Japan and the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee for cleaning up the earth in such a noble cause while integrating their citizens into the Games in such an engaging and meaningful way! Creating podiums out of recycled home plastic is such a fantastic project that the the world leaders should learn a lesson or two about.
